The European Commission was AFP-Services’ first institutional client and remains its largest one today. After fulfilling a four-year contract that expired in 2014, the Commission opted to continue working with us for another four-year period.
On average, AFP-Services has at least four to six assignments a day for the Commission, sometimes as many as seven or eight at various points around the globe. For both photography and videos, coverage begins with a request submitted to our production office, which will mobilize AFP-Services journalists wherever in the world a European Commissioner might be traveling.
Lining up local accreditations when needed – for ministerial or summit meetings, for example – is an essential part of the assignment, one made easier by the deep access of our colleagues within the AFP global network. Images and footage are transferred to the AFP-Services photo and video desks in Paris and Brussels, where they are edited and forwarded per the specifications of the Commission.
